introduction to class dojo for students
This lesson should take place in a computer lab to ensure all students have access to computers and the internet. Teachers will need to secure parents email addresses. This lesson will take two days to complete.

Have students come to the carpet
Activating Strategy:
Ask students if they have ever seen Class DOJO. Some may have, and that's ok, some have not, and that's ok too. Tell students that this year we will be using Class DOJO to earn points for our behavior.
Procedure:
- Login to Class DOJO website from teacher computer and project the website for students to see
- Play the introduction video to Class DOJO for students
- Explain to students that we will be creating our class in Class DOJO. Click on new class and add students names to the class list.
- Explain that parents will be able to see classroom behaviors as they happen. Print off parent/student invites.
- Explain that we will customize our behaviors. Discuss with students positive behaviors that they should demonstrate in the classroom. Make a list of these behaviors. Use these behaviors to set the behaviors in Class DOJO. Remind students that there are some behaviors that we should not participate in. Brainstorm a list of negative behaviors. Choose 3-4 negative behaviors that students can lose points for. Add these behaviors to the negative behaviors list in DOJO.
- While discussing behaviors also discuss personal choices and consequences.
- Make an anchor chart of the positive behaviors- these can become your classroom norms (rules)
- Have students go to computers and go to the Class DOJO website
- Pass out parent/student invitation sheets and parent email addresses
- Have students login to Class DOJO as a student.
- Their user name can be their first and last initial and their student number- for the password select a common password- something like the teachers name and grade
- After parents have approved students, have students login to DOJO
- Students are to customize their monster and explore the DOJO site
- After students have finished customizing their monster, have them come back to the carpet.
- Discuss goals with students. Set a goal for class points on DOJO for the week. Have students set individual behavior point goals. Discuss rewards that will be given to students for points. Make a Rewards anchor chart to display in classroom as a reminder of what good behavior can earn.
Closing:
Review positive behavior anchor chart. Have students act out positive behaviors with a partner.

Ask students if they have ever used GoNoodle. Tell students that this year we will be using GoNoodle to provide "Brain Breaks" from working so hard. We will also be selecting a class champ and we will watch him grow!
Procedure:
Have students discuss their new class champ and their dancing experience.

Procedure:
- Login to GoNoodle and project the landing page. Add a new class.
- After adding a class, the students will pick their class champ. Have a discussion with the students about how to choose a class champ and what we want in a champ- color, shape, etc...
- Watch the GoNoodle 101 video with your students
- Explore the channels the GoNoodle offers with your class
- When you get to the Zumba channel, have students stand up and push in their chairs.
- Tell students that since we have a champ we are going to give GoNoodle a try.
- Click on Zumba- Scroll to "Dance, Dance, Dance" and click.
- Enjoy dancing to Zumba
Have students discuss their new class champ and their dancing experience.
